Volunteer FAQ's

Who can volunteer?

We have received help from volunteers of all ages and walks of life. Children are encouraged to participate in mission volunteer activities if accompanied by an adult. Volunteers must be 16 years of age or older to serve at the Valley Food Bank warehouse.

Can I volunteer at more than one RMA outreach ministry?

Yes. If you have the time, we have the place for you. We have plenty of volunteer opportunities at our various outreach ministries throughout Southern California. Click on our outreach ministry pages to learn more about the services we provide.

Can I bring a group from my church, school, business, or club to volunteer?

Yes. Volunteering is a great group activity for your church, school, business or club. Some companies will make a monetary donation to the mission for every hour their employees donate to mission service projects. Please check with your human resources department at your workplace to see if they have a volunteer rewards program. Church youth groups and school groups teach values of community service to their students through volunteerism.

Do you provide the necessary training and equipment for volunteers?

Yes. We provide the training and equipment you need to safely perform your service.

Do you need help only during the holidays or are there opportunities to volunteer throughout the year?

We need a lot of volunteer help for our holiday events. But that’s not the only time we need help. We provide services to the poor and homeless 365 days a year. There are plenty of opportunities to serve throughout the year.

What volunteer opportunities are available?

At the Rescue Mission Alliance, there is a place for everyone with time to give. Opportunities include meal preparation, meal service, clean up, decorating, gift wrapping, greeters, sorting and stocking food donations, tutors, counselors, facility maintenance, clerical, and more.

What if I would like to help in some way that is not listed on your volunteer opportunities?

If you have a skill or talent that you would like to donate, please complete the volunteer sign up form and list the skills and talents you have to offer. You can also call or email the volunteer coordinator of the outreach ministry you wish to serve at.
