Pathways of rescue for women and children

Because every story is different, our approach focuses on individualized support, compassion, and dignity for every woman and child.
From safety to healing, stability, and hope
When a woman comes into the shelter with her children, the first thing we do is let her know she is safe. She and her children have a place to rest their heads and feel secure. From there, we take time to talk with her and assess her needs- does she need temporary shelter, help with housing or employment, support for addiction recovery, protection from domestic violence, or healing from human trafficking? Every story is unique, but their basic needs are the same: shelter, food, clothing, safety, and a sense of belonging.
For women and children who need more than temporary support, we offer our yearlong Life Recovery Program. This program provides dedicated time to heal from past traumas, addiction, life challenges, or hardships. Participants have access to classes, curriculum, case management, counseling, workforce development, life skills training, education opportunities, mentoring, support groups, and a strong sense of community. Here, mothers can focus on restoring themselves and caring for their children while building a foundation for a better, more stable future.
Women identified as survivors of human trafficking or domestic violence have the option to enroll in our Human Trafficking/Domestic Violence Recovery Program. This yearlong program provides tailored support, specialized classes, and curriculum designed to address the unique challenges of healing from these traumas.
After completing any of our yearlong programs, residents can transition into our Transitional Living Program, which focuses on employment, saving money, finding stable housing, and continuing to receive support from the Lighthouse.
At the Lighthouse, we know healing does not happen overnight-it is a process that requires time, guidance, and encouragement. Witnessing a woman work hard for a second chance at life, and seeing her thrive, is nothing short of inspiring. We are honored to walk alongside her every step of the way.
